| Class Description: | Make a notebook of stitch samples on the first day of this
notebook/brainstorming class, learning, among other things, seven kinds of
knots plus four kinds of 'turkey work'. We will discuss naturalistic,
whimsical and abstract shading for faces and fur, as well as 'styling'
hair. Fur techniques will cover both the type of fur used for cuffs and
coats, as well as that of animals.. The notebook will provide a reference
resource that will be constantly useful to the student after class.
On the second day of the class, we will brainstorm stitches for faces, mustaches, beards and fur on actual painted canvases brought by the students. During this class discussion, students who are prepared to do so may actually start stitching on the relevant area of their canvases. |
