| Class Length: | 2 days | |
| Proficiency Level: | Intermediate; must know basketweave | |
| Targeted Audience: | This class is intended for the student who loves to combine
unusual threads and stitches, and who is ready to make design decisions as
she stitches the project. This student also is tired of unfinished
projects and framed pieces, and wants to make something she can use!
Student will have the option of stitching all six accessories on one large canvas (16" x 16") or can pick and choose which ones to stitch on individual canvases. The pieces have many common stitches and the finishing techniques are related, so it's not a problem if some students are stitching on different items during class. |
|
| Description of Project: | Six small stitching accessories:
We will start the nametag, the needle case, the laying tool case and the scissor case in class. Students who prefer to do so may choose to stitch on the frame weight (which is similar to the nametag). Students planning to stitch the nametag will be asked to graph their name before coming to class. |
|
| Course Objectives: | Do-able, finish-able, fun projects with real-life uses after class. Learn handling techniques for various threads in unusual places; learn finishing techniques. We will start from the ground up, deciding on sizes, cutting canvas, selecting threads, making guided decisions all the way. Detailed finishing instruction, including tassel and twisted cord construction is a part of the class. | |
| Student to Supply: | The student chooses her own choice of colors:
Stretcher bars, tacks or staple gun, needles, scissors, usual sewing supplies. |
|
| Teacher Will Need | Some type of marker board and markers. This will not be a quiet class, so need a classroom space that takes that into account. | |
| Pre-Class Work: | None |
