Class Length: 1 day
Proficiency Level: Intermediate
Targeted Audience: This class is intended for the student who loves to combine threads and stitches and who wants to work on something that is easily finished and that can actually be used!
Description of Project: This stitching "necessities" case contains spaces for the basic supplies that you just have to have along when you stitch needles, scissors, laying tool and a needle threader. Three choices of color:
  • Gold Glitz based on gold on ecru/gold metallic canvas, gold metallics and cream threads
  • Pearl Panache based on pearl metallic on white/pearl metallic canvas, pearl metallics and white threads
  • Silver Sheen based on silver on white/silver metallic canvas, silver metallics and white threads

Threads will include Kreinik metallic, pearl cotton, Shimmer ribbon, and Marlitt.

Course Objectives: Learn handling techniques for various threads in unusual places. Learn to apply and adjust wonderful twisty stitches, such as Amadeus, and Double Fan. The focus of the class is on stitching the exterior of the case. A discussion of do-it-yourself finishing (and a pattern) is included in the class, as well as tassel and twisted cord making.
Kit Cost: $25, includes canvas, all threads needed to complete the stitching part of the project, pattern and directions for finishing. Note while finishing is discussed, finishing supplies are not a part of the kit.
Student to Supply: Stretcher bars, scissors, needles and usual stitching supplies. After class finishing supplies and materials.
Teacher Will Need Some type of marker board and markers. This will not be a quiet class, so classroom arrangements should take this into account.
Pre-Class Work: None
