Targeted Audience: This class is intended for the student who loves to combine threads and stitches and who has a stocking she wants to stitch or is interested in the idea of stitching a stocking. Stockings can be very intimidating they are large, expensive and often difficult to stitch. In this brainstorming class, we will discuss all aspects of stitching stockings cuffs and alphabets, Santas, trees, leaves, presents, details, backgrounds and more. The booklet provided will provide a selection of stitches customarily used and we will make up more in class! Show and tell is an integral part of this class. This class will not result in a stitch guide for the student; rather, it will teach the students how to go about writing their own stitch guides as well as inspiring them to get started and get finished with that stocking!
Course Objectives: We will start from the ground up, talking about threads and color placement, making guided decisions all the way. Show and tell will inspire lots of ideas, with the class discussion being a valuable component of the teaching time.
Kit Cost: $15, includes an extensive booklet (over 50 pages) detailing various stitches, threads and finishing options specifically for stockings.
Student to Supply: Student's choice of one stocking canvas to discuss in class, paper and pencil to take notes, any threads she wants to bring to discuss. Already owning a stocking is not required.
Teacher Will Need Some type of marker board and markers
This will not be a quiet class, so classroom assignment should take this into account. Walls that can have papers taped or pinned to them are helpful, but not required.
