Teaching Needlework

Class Length: Two Days
Proficiency Level: All
Targeted Audience: This class is intended for the student who wants to start teaching needlework or who is currently teaching and wants to polish his/her skills.
Course Objectives: Just as needlework is an art, teaching needlework is in itself an art. Why do you want to teach? The answer is probably a little different for every needlework teacher. However, a common thread is undoubtedly the love of the medium, along with the love of learning. Sections of the class, taught as a two-day class, will include a thorough presentation of:
  • Developing a needlework class
    Who, what, when, where and how do you want to teach? And most of all why?
  • Creativity
    Where does it come from; where can you get it? Developing and identifying the steps of the creative process
  • Presentation in the classroom
    Kits, lesson plans, instructions and visual aids
  • Practical Aspects of Teaching
    Finances, Contracts, Proposals, Time Management and Traveling to Teach

The goals of this course are:

  • to provide material that will stimulate your thought processes
  • to expand your awareness of your personal creativity
  • to identify specific areas of strength and weakness
  • to provide solutions to problems
  • to acquaint you with opportunities
  • to encourage you to plan creative components in your classes
  • to present a compilation of ideas in such a way that you can prepare to be a teacher of needlework in a methodical way
  • to provide you with resources for developing a clientele
  • to identify and encourage professional presentation of materials
Kit Cost: $15
Student to Supply: Something to write with and on.
Teacher Will Need Some type of marker board and markers.
