| Class Description: | Wrapped in a cloak inspired by the crisp clean lines of a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass window, Father Frost will be a glittery addition to your winter décor. Worked in icy tones of white and blue, using unusual combinations of threads, stitches, crystals and beads, you will learn a variety of techniques for filling and working compensation into spaces bounded by oblique and diagonal lines. You will also learn how to use optical mixing to add interest to a monochromatic design as you layer threads to make complex composite patterns. His twinkling eyes will enchant you as you stitch crystalline patterns on his cloak! Father Frost is a counted design worked on 18 ct. blue mono canvas. He is designed to be finished as a stand-up figure, but student may choose to add background and frame. This piece is deliberately designed to appeal to the student who is looking for a challenge in terms of stitches and techniques, but who finds 18-count ground canvas easier to see. Kit includes a variety of silks, including Northern Lights overdyes, Soie d’alger, Needlepoint Inc Silk and Waterlilies plus Kreinik braid and Rainbow Gallery metallics, Wildflowers, Mandarin floss, ribbon floss, hand-dyed silk chenille, Swarovski crystals, margaritas, spacers and beads. The base color of his coat is Blueberry Watercolours.
